Proposed National Funding Formula for Nursery Provision

As you may be aware, the Government has announced increased free childcare entitlement for working parents in England. Currently parents are entitled to 15 hours free childcare, and from next September an additional 15 hours will be available (total 30 hours) but only if they meet the following eligibility criteria:

Households will be eligible for the additional free entitlement where both parents are working, (or one parent is working in lone-parent families) and they earn, on average, a minimum weekly amount equivalent to 16 hours at national minimum wage or national living wage and less than £100,000 per year.

As you know Camden currently offers free childcare to nursery children for up to 30 hours but because of proposed changes in the way funding received from central government is distributed the amount of funding that Camden receives for nursery provision in schools will be reduced.  This therefore has implications for the way that our nursery provision is structured and funded.

March 2017 Update:

I am pleased to let you know that the Governors have agreed to maintain our current offer of full time nursery provision for the 2017-2018 academic year.  We will review the provision we will be able to offer for September 2018 intake.

Emmanuel Nursery has been oversubscribed again this year. Letters confirming whether your child has or has not received a place will be sent to you the week of 24th April 2017.

Parents/carers of children who receive a place will still need to complete documentation, which is yet to be released by the Government, regarding qualification for entitlements. We will write to you with more information regarding this when the process has been finalised. You should be clearly aware that it is a condition of accepting a place that this documentation is completed at the appropriate time.
